I Started Using OxyShred: Here’s What Happened

Skinnyfat.. we all know it, even if we don’t know the term we understand it.. and most importantly— we all hate it!

It’s essentially the phenomenon where you look great with clothes on but hate looking at yourself without clothes on. You have the right clothes sitting and holding the right places, your spouse says you look great, friends say you’re killin it in those jeans, etc.. you feel decent with yourself like the one workout you did last week really kicked in, or not snacking for the week is what you needed.

Then— you put on a bathing suit, or just look at yourself after a shower and you’re thinking ‘wtf’.. ‘what were they looking at?’.. ‘where did the shape go?’ Etc.. all the things.. all the crappy thoughts come swirling in. And then we continue the struggle, continuing the self-hate pattern, and never getting anywhere with your goals.

My body was skinnyfat, to the letter. Felt great in certain clothes, even tried wearing those bodysuits and looked pretty decent in them, but absolutely hated what I looked like once I took it off. Hid in the bathroom to get dressed so even my husband wouldn’t see what I hated, wore lots of layers, thick sweatshirts to hide the love handles, and never wore a bathing suit! High waisted pants and flowy shirts or sweatshirts were my jam!

And know that I understood my own issues with this, I understood that what I was seeing was not even that bad. I carried two pregnancies in my body, went through depression —that came with drinking & eating anything I wanted, whenever I wanted for years— but I’m strong, I build pools like a man during the summer months, it’s hard physical labor; I also am a trained dancer and dance teacher that has kept me in shape my whole life. It’s just not the shape I want.. or that I envision for myself, my goals, a way for my confidence to be soaring.. or even just a leap off the ground every now and then!

And it’s not like I wasn’t trying, but I was trying the wrong way… I didn’t know certain things! I’m sure like us all- we find so much information about health and wellness and then find more information that contradicts the other information! It’s a swirling mess of talk from a lot of people.

I tried the juicing thing, meal programs, green things only, plant based, meat based, no pop, no sugar, no carbs, fasting, etc.. and a lot of those things worked for people I knew so I’m thinking —if it can work for them, it should work for me! Nope! Actually on one of those programs it made me GAIN WEIGHT! I had to measure myself every week for my “coach” and I gained 1 inch on my waist in less than 2 weeks! After starving myself and eating only what the program gave me, disgusting by the way.. it was not working for me and I was OVER it!

And it’s not like I was expecting any of it to work over night, and it may not have been what I was eating per se.. but I also know (now) that how I was working out/ exercising wasn’t what I needed. And I’ll even say now- it was what I was doing all together. The food, the exercise, and everything in between.

I came across OxyShred randomly I believe on TikTok.. of course lol it was some influencer flaunting dozens of these containers in her kitchen, showing off her favorite flavors and how she mixes it every day along with her daily routine. She was saying all the things I’m writing in this blog.. I just didn’t believe her at the time, I wanted to though. So I did what I normally do, I researched the product. The only negative thing I remember seeing was that it didn’t work for them, I figured that’s the story of my life.. what harm could it do? Probably not add an inch to my waist..

I went to the one site where I get probably 95% of my things— Amazon.

Amazon is amazing and so of course they had OxyShred, so many flavors. I’ve tried a couple, I am very picky so I stuck to fruity flavors verses their cola and others. I’ve even tried the “hardcore” kind, but I felt the best, and loved the taste the best of “Guava Paradise” <3 I pair it with CLA + Carnitine & Creatine! I drink it every morning, whether I work out or not! On work out days I drink when I know I’ll be able to hit the weights at least 20 minutes after I finish the drink. On rest days, I drink typically in the morning, it’s my coffee essentially, especially on dance comp days! Dance mommas- I know you don’t have time to get yourself a coffee from anywhere when the chaos of those mornings, save time and get this combo! You’ll feel energized for the day with keeping up with your dancer! Here’s my blog talking about these three products specifically:)

Anyways…

This is a pre-workout but also a thermogenic Fat Burner, so whenever you drink it -it’s ‘supposedly’ internally burning fat. Is this 100%? Maybe.. even if it just helps me a little bit, I was fine with it! I wanted help, something to even just keep me motivated and moving. I have found consistency with this drink, this is part of my habit, it keeps my mind on what my goals are. It is easy since I don’t like coffee, so I am not temped with a cheat drink at Starbucks or wherever. I do occasionally like a chai tea latte, however I know the sugar content of it is too much for me to splurge on the regular. I may get it on days at dance conventions when the room is freezing cold, and when my son is with me, he loves chai :)

Moving on!

I have found lots of information, went over a year of doing it wrong (by my body), reevaluated everything, restarted, restarted, restarted.. this has been several years in the making but I feel like a quick fix isn’t going to solve problems ..ie- Habits.. I wanted help to get me where I’d like to be but I wanted to do it the right way, I wanted to find the habits that still allow me to feel great, look good, and NOT be miserable by missing out on meals or drinks forever to maintain something. I wanted a healthy balance.

This is what I have found to work for me and actually has given me results that I can see in less time than what I was doing for over a year straight!

Here are my rules for myself that I’ve followed in the last year:

1) LIMIT THE ALCOHOL— this may seem obvious, however there are times where I lovvve having a drink with my husband.. whether we are camping, or being able to watch a show after the kids got to bed. However…. Alcohol is considered a poison to your body! Once you take a sip of a drink, your body switches gears from burning fat to clearing the poison out of your body. So depending on what you drink, and how much you drink, 1 day of casual drinking can potentially turn your fat burning process OFF for DAYS! Now if you can go days, weeks.. without a drink and you know you have a celebratory dinner, event, something where you know you would love a drink.. it’s ok! For example— My birthday is coming up, I don’t plan on having much of any alcohol leading up to it, but I know that if we can, my husband will be taking me to one of our favorite restaurants and they have the best spicy cucumber mule. I do plan on having that at dinner! And it’ll be ok! One drink at dinner every now and then isn’t going to ruin you if you are a person who enjoys a drink from time to time, just keep in mind- the more you have that special drink, the slower your process will be to reach your goal, it’s all about how you want your balance and your timeline goals. If you don’t drink, no issue then!

2) WHERE YOUR FOOD COMES FROM MATTERS!!— I focus on the food that: comes from the earth & food that had a mom and a dad. Whole Foods + protein! Trust me— I was a snacker!! Big time! Loved all things snacks. I even turned to protein bars during one year as my go to snack… terrible idea, those do not have as many nutrients as you think. Anyways- this was a super hard habit to break, because your brain is saying “I’m bored, find something to eat” so now, I look at apples & peanut butter, carrots with dip (I’m not an animal I do require dip lol), turkey sticks, etc. If I’m out of those things, I try to just drink my water, or chocolate milk. & Since I take creatine, I need water for that to do what it needs to do.

3) PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN!— this goes along with #2, I am trying to change with my body (I want to lose fat, and gain muscle), which can be a hard balance! In order to gain muscle, I need to feed it protein. When you work out, you essentially tear muscle, it rebuilds to be stronger as you feed it after you work out. Which is why they say to follow a workout with a protein shake. I tried protein shakes, I was in LOVE with FairLife Pro Elite Vanilla shake, I would mix it with a sugar free chai tea box mix, to make a chai tea. Sometimes I’d get super fancy with homemade pumpkin cold foam, it was delicious and I knew it was better for me than Starbucks. However, recent studies came out that the Pro Elite drinks were incredibly bad for you! Has tons of crap in it, and I was having that once a day! For a straight year! I was so sad! But it made me think that there’s something better for me out there and truthfully- though I was getting protein with that drink instantly, I was not seeing a difference. (I was even pairing it with a BareBell bar, also expensive, more protein.. thought it was good, but again, wasn’t seeing a mega difference for all the money I was spending). I now just do FairLife Chocolate milk! I choose FairLife because it’s lactose free, regular milk TEARS ME UP! This does not. I do a large glass, and will mix some Vanila Malt mix in there as well to make it taste better, because I do not actually care for milk in general, but this tastes like a chocolate malt shake! A bit of a tangent but anyways— we love meat, we do steak several times a week since we get a cow every year, and I make lots of dishes with ground beef, & chicken, both with homemade bone broth in them so even more protein. I use basmati rice with most dishes so it’s an easy to burn carb for your body so it doesn’t get stored as much. But lots of protein all the time!

4) WATER!— of course! Lots of water! I have so much trouble with this though! I need lemon in it, and will also do a pinch of Baja Gold Salt.. it’s so pure it doesn’t even taste like there’s salt in there. The salt actually binds the water molecule to your actual cell to hydrate molecularly, instead of just peeing it out :) Keep a tumbler with you, big or small.. the small ones actually make me drink more because I visibly see I need more. I’m goofy.

That’s really about it! Why have a long list of rules when it’ll be so hard to keep track of it all, then making yourself miserable, and inevitably failing your goals again. Limit the alcohol, eat real food, prioritize protein, & drink water. Easy. I feel like most people have a workout schedule they like. I will tag mine here. Just keep in mind that if you

are trying to grow your muscles— muscles need weight. Lift heavy, keep the reps small, progressive overload, go until failure. Doing 4+ sets, with 15+ reps… you need heavier weight babe. There will be days where I just do one set of each thing, with the most amount of weight that I have/can do with that exercise, and go until failure.

I will be ULTRA vulnerable and post before pics of what I looked like in the very beginning of this process, and what I looked like now.. which is still a work in progress but I do feel like I am on the right path!

  • I would like to note that the 2022 pictures are those when I first started this journey of feeling better with how I look. With all of the experimental meal plans, random workouts, & without the information I know now. It took me until 2024 to really get on track what works the best for me now. In 2025 is when everything really started to show (me) a difference, waist was getting smaller, legs & booty a little bigger, & I was feeling good internally. So know that the difference between these sets of pics is during my whole journey of finding what works best and I only discovered that earlier in 2025 :) it’s a learning process!

I am writing this all out in hopes that it’ll find someone who also struggles with getting the extra layer off their body .. someone who knows they have what they want underneath the fluff, you feel the muscle, you know your strength, you just need a little extra help! This drink combo has been my help- I am a regular woman, a mom of 2, homeschooling mom of 2 now as of 2026 lol, no one that lives at the gym, or has the resources like influences to make myself look successful without the work.

I am an Amazon Affiliate, so if you purchase these items through these links I do get commission, as I am a stay-at-home mom doing homeschooling, I am trying to help out the family as much as I can. :)

Let me know if this helps you out at all! Prioritze yourself!
